Wings of a Butterfly!

Ahoy Labbers!

Last night on my way back from work I took the slow lane on the highway and listened to the radio. Some professional comedians were philosophising about humour and questioning if we will ever know how humour works in the brain. One of the members of the group was a mathematician and comedian (I thought this was a weird but interesting combination). She told a few jokes and then shared her conviction that everything in life can be expressed in mathematical terms. They agreed it would however never be possible to write down an equation for humour – and said that it would be like pulling the wings off a butterfly. I thought to myself, if only they knew about my brain model – how it explains the mathematics of humour and all other brain states so well – everything that humans can experience, all in mathematics.

It explains the mathematics of feeling good, feeling bad, feeling fear and feeling pain – even depression and euphoria. It explains in mathematical terms how the pleasurable subjective states we experience every day are created in the mind when a person enjoys a joke,  has a fun ride on a fairground, stares at an object of beauty, is intellectually stimulated or stumbles upon a new idea…even when a person falls in love. And I thought how much richer the world would be if everyone understood the simple principles underpinning this model – how much more humble it would make us all, and accepting of another.

Update: I am working on a demo video covering my robot Troopy and how it experiences entertainment and fun at the moment! Should be on my YouTube Channel in the not too distant future!
