Brain Modelling

Overview

It all started 26 years ago when I embarked on a quest to uncover the inner workings of the human brain and developed a fully integrated brain model. It took years – and many a late night – before it all fell into place and it was suddenly clear how everything in the brain worked. All that is difficult for me now, is to understand how it can be so simple!

Next, I got curious and wanted to see what would happen if I were to build this brain model into a simple robot…would it come alive?

So I built a simple little Lego robot called ‘Troopy‘. And to my amazement, the little robot came alive in a way I never expected, making it behave in a very ‘human-like’ way…just like little Pinocchio!

Troopy – such a ‘yuppie’!

I started doing tests on Troopy in a specially designed ‘Learning Confine’ and one after the other I was able to demonstrate how the little robot experienced common subjective brain states and behaviours such as hunger, anger, fun, pain, fear, phobia, fatigue, learning, thinking, problem solving, etc. Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to get alerts to these videos as I upload them to YouTube!

Of course, one has to realise the little robot knows no more than a child of a few hours old – but still it quickly became apparent that the model was working and that there were no exceptions to its generality. It provided me with many new insights about the brain and opened up the secrets that have intrigued me since I first started studying it. Today, I know that the ‘basic’ working of the brain is no more complex than a lawnmower engine!
